The Liberal Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell is encouraging the public to attend the Greater Shepparton hearing of the Inquiry into the 2022 Flood Event in Victoria on Wednesday 13 September 2023.
The Inquiry, conducted by the Legislative Council Environment and Planning Committee of which Ms Lovell is a member, has already held hearings in Rochester and Echuca.
Ms Lovell said it was vital that the Committee held a hearing in Greater Shepparton to hear from our local community on how the flood was handled, what worked well, what could be improved and the impact the flood is still having on our region.
The hearing will be held at the Sir Ian McLennan Centre in Mooroopna on Wednesday 13th September 2023 between 10am-5pm with all members of the public welcome. An agenda for the hearing has been set with the following speakers scheduled to give evidence to the
Committee:
- 10.00am – Greater Shepparton City Council
- 11.30am – Committee for Greater Shepparton
- 12.30pm – Murray Darling Association
- 2.00pm – Undera Flood Group
- 2.45pm – Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre
- 3.30pm – Ethnic Communities Council of Shepparton and District / Neighbourhood Collective Australia
- 4.15pm – Shepparton Search and Rescue Squad
Ms Lovell said the public gallery will be open to all members of the Shepparton community to come along and hear the evidence given by witnesses and questions asked of them by Committee members.
