
GREATER Shepparton City Council (GSCC) has been honoured with a Bronze award at the prestigious Victorian Tourism Awards, acknowledging its significant contribution to local and state tourism. This annual event, hosted by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC), salutes business excellence and performance within the industry.
GSCC clinched Bronze in the Local Government Award for Tourism category, a recognition of its excellence in areas such as tourism strategy, planning, facilities, services, marketing, and event management. The rigorous nomination process involved an expert panel of judges from VTIC, with nominees needing to score over 75% to become finalists.

Steve Dimopoulos, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Environment and Outdoor Recreation, and Brendan McClements, CEO of Visit Victoria, commended the Victorian tourism sector for its resilience and hard work during challenging times. They noted that tourism spending and visitation numbers now exceed pre-pandemic levels.
Mayor Councillor Shane Sali expressed his pride in receiving the Bronze award, highlighting the achievements of the Visitor Economy team and Council. He also congratulated local businesses ‘The Storekeeper’s House’, Rambling Wine Tours, and Go Adventure Nagambie for their success at the awards.
