A Meet Your Candidates Forum was held on October 14 at the University of Melbourne, bringing together 19 Greater Shepparton City Council candidates, representing six of the nine wards. Jointly facilitated by The Door Bells: Migrant Women’s Network and the Universities of Melbourne and La Trobe, the forum was an empowering opportunity for attendees to listen to candidates introduce their priorities, ahead of the October 25, Greater Shepparton City Council Elections. Followed by a lively Q&A session addressing pressing local issues such as affordable housing, multicultural engagement and Council stances on social topics, the event was a grassroots success, paving the way for a more informed, electoral process.
