EMPLOYEES at SPC’s Shepparton plant were shocked to learn that 40 roles across maintenance and frontline leadership are to be impacted by proposed changes to its manufacturing operating model by SPC Global.
Consultation with employees began last week that included changes to serval roles alongside the creation of new opportunities to better support future growth and competitiveness, with three new area supervisors and 26 team leader positions becoming available.
The proposed changes are designed to strengthen manufacturing capability, improve productivity and operational efficiency, and support innovation – building the future skills, capabilities and leadership framework that will help SPC Global continue to grow and compete in the years ahead.

“Shepparton has been at the heart of SPC for more than a century and will continue to play a critical role in our future. These proposed changes are about ensuring we have the right structure, capability and capacity to better support growth and competitiveness as we continue to grow domestically and internationally,” said SPC Global managing Director Robert Iervasi.
As part of SPC’s broader manufacturing strategy, additional production is expected to transition to Shepparton in the coming months following the relocation of selected beverage manufacturing lines from the Mill Park site in Melbourne. This is expected to create new opportunities for both the site and the wider region over time.
As consultation with employees and their representatives continues, a spokesperson from SPC said they expected many employees affected by the structural changes to apply for the new positions.
