THE long promised extra train services are on the way to the Shepparton line, with the Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, announcing more train services for the Seymour and Shepparton lines before the end of the month.
From Sunday, August 23, more than 400 extra weekly train services will start across the statewide network.
Locally, passengers will benefit from:
Shepparton Line: An uplift to nine return services every weekday and five return services each Saturday and Sunday.
Seymour Line: Trains every hour on Saturday and Sunday.
“We appreciate Shepparton line users’ patience whilst works were underway on the Shepparton line to make way for these additional services,” Ms Symes.
“More trains on the timetable means less time waiting on the platform and more time to enjoy your destination, whether it’s getting home, going to the footy, or heading to work.”
Outgoing State Member for Shepparton District, Kim O’Keeffe, said this recent announcement made by the Victorian State Government is “well overdue” and that the people of the Goulburn Valley have had to wait far too long to see more services on the line.
“This is something that I have passionately advocated to the government and successive Public Transport Ministers. Our region has had to wait more than three years since the project was originally scheduled to be completed,” said Ms O’Keeffe.
