KYABRAM Fauna Park is welcoming its newest addition, a precious koala joey, recently named Gumnet.
Members of the community were asked to participate in naming the baby joey, with Gumnet being the top choice amid other options including, Biyala (river red gum), Wanyarra (active) and Yurringa (sun).
Visitors to the park can expect to see the new furry friend peeking out from first-time mother Freckles’ pouch, just in time for the school holidays.

The park offers an array of wildlife experiences to enjoy over the break, including behind-the-scenes animal experiences, access to thriving wetlands and daily animal talks for visitors to hear fascinating stories and insights directly from the park’s animal keepers.
The sanctuary is home to over 600 native animals, including kangaroos, koalas, peacocks, wombats and dingoes.
Animal lovers can also keep a look out for curious meerkats digging away behind the cafe’s large glass windows while enjoying baked goods, sandwiches or a hot meal.
Operating under all weather conditions the park opens daily from 10am to 5pm and is free for kids.
Kyabram Fauna Park is a 30-minute drive from Shepparton at 75 Lake Road, Kyabram.
