A Victorian initiative by CFA is underway with more than 630 brigades hosting events to prepare communities ahead of another potentially challenging fire season.
Get Fire Ready will run throughout October and the start of November, aimed at helping communities understand their fire risk and what to do in an emergency.
“Preparedness saves lives. By getting fire ready now, communities can reduce their risk and respond quickly if fire threatens,” said CFA chief officer, Jason Heffernan.

“Brigades are either holding events at their station, at local community events, or within the community.” Some local events include:
- October 11, 11am to 2pm, Wunghnu CFA Open Day, at 44 Carlisle Street, Wunghnu
- October 17, 8.30am to 1pm, Rushworth Fire Brigade at the Rushworth Monthly Market, 18 High Street, Rushworth.
- October 18, 10am to 1pm, Nagambie Fire Brigade, at 168 High Street, Nagambie
- October 17, 9am to 1pm, Tatura Fire Brigade at 1 O’Reilly Road, Tatura
- October 25, 9am to 2pm, Mooroopna Fire Brigade at 15 Echuca Road, Mooroopna
