Concerns over local future with the super school

Dear editor,

I write to you as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother in anguish at the turmoil in my family as a direct result of the super school.

I have eight grandchildren currently in secondary school, three at Wanganui High School, two at Shepparton High School and three at Mooroopna High School, with more still to come up from primary school.

Not one of my grandchildren wants to attend the super school. They want to attend the school they chose themselves. The school they can walk to and from home to. The school their siblings are at. The school that provides them security, familiarity and continuity. The government are stripping my grandkids of their choice, their confidence and their independence. What right do they have!

We moved here from Queensland 11 years ago and have made Shepparton our home. My kids have had their own kids here and we as a family have made out own story. My family now all want to move out of the area because of the anxiety and stress caused by the planned super school.

No one believes the super school will be completed by 2022 meaning students will be attending split campuses for longer than has been indicated.

The planned super school needs to be stopped and out children and grandchildren given their choice back.

Yours sincerely,

Dot Lammon

Shepparton.
