When local Goulburn Valley Grammar School (GVGS) student, Xan Booth started collecting funds for a school project, he had no idea the generosity of locals would help raise $3,543.07
The funds have been raised for GV Health’s Grutzner House as part of GVGS’s curriculum, which requires all students to contribute at least eight hours of community service to the region.
Xan utilised this opportunity to do something special in memory of his grandfather, Bruce McNeill, who spent some time at Grutzner House prior to his passing in October last year.
As part of the fundraiser, a raffle was set up at various locations around Shepparton, with the winner given the opportunity to win one of four prizes. First prize was three nights accommodation at Bundalong Bliss Waterfront Yarrawonga (valued at $990), second prize was a GHD styling iron and hairdryer from Hair Trend (valued at $380), third prize was a Nixon + Maude gift box (valued at $100) and fourth prize received a $50 box of goodies from Jeff Young Shoes.
Xan hopes that the funds raised can contribute toward a comfortable new mechanical chair for Grutzner House, which could help patients to lift themselves up, something which would benefit residents and staff alike.
