And they are away… 40 pre-1980 classic and modern sports cars took to the road on a mission to raise funds for the KFC Youth Foundation with the second Rally4Youth.
The rally took them out in the direction of Bendigo where they stopped at the Bendigo gold mines, Heathcote Winery, Hanging Rock, Bendigo City and Nagambie Brewery and eventually, back to Shepparton for a gala dinner at The Woolshed last Saturday.
A huge ‘driver’ of donations, the Rally4Youth adds significant funds to the KFC Youth Foundation which aims to raise $1.5 million nationally in 2019. Since its inception in 2018, the KFC Youth Foundation has collected $1.8 million through its efforts and conducted two research reports investigating confidence levels of young people in Australia.
Founded with the mission to back young people in Australia so that they can thrive, The KFC Youth Foundation commits and splits all funds raised evenly to five charity partners: Reachout.com, Whitelion, StreetWork, Youngcare and Reach. These charities are leading drivers of awareness for youth confidence and provide essential support for young Aussies in tough situations through programs and mentorship.
The 2019 Rally4Youth collected money via the rally participation tickets and business sponsorships, heading to Bendigo on the 18th October, culminating into a sensational Gala Evening and Auction at The Woolshed, Shepparton on Saturday 19t October.
Chris Retzos at KFC Shepparton said, “The Rally4Youth is one of the many local and large scale activities used to raise funds for the projects and mentorship programs created by the KFC Youth Foundation to support Aussie youth, helping them to thrive, not just survive.
“Thank you doesn’t seem like enough to express the gratitude for how deep everyone put their hands into their pockets and donated to the youth of our country in last year’s inaugural Rally. It is truly amazing that so many people can gather and have a really great time and achieve such a great result for the foundation.
“This year we are heading over to the Bendigo region, and once again we are asking the KFC family in Shepparton and the locals of the region to get behind the Foundation and raise some funds for a very worthy cause – and have fun doing it!”
Following on from the gala dinner, the organisers are able to report that they had over 180 guests and with Kevin Hicks as auctioneer, raised over $400,000 from the event exceeding last years total by $150,000.
“We couldn’t be prouder of the local community, sponsors and all those that kindly donated for this year’s KFC Rally4Youth to make it the success it was. We’re completely blown away. It’s amazing to see so many people dig deep and give up their time to help out those that need it most, Aussie youth. It’s safe to say the KFC Rally4Youth has been a huge success in 2019!” Chris said.
