Cutting a name for themselves as leaders in their craft, Brad’s Magic Meats has garnered numerous regional and state awards in recognition of their exceptional product quality and service, including the prestigious title of Victoria’s Best Traditional Beef Sausages.

By no means an overnight success story, proprietor Brad Wootton had entered the Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) State Sausage and Best Butchers Burger Awards for over 15 years before earning the bragging rights to the esteemed first-place title last year. Impressively, the business also took home third place in the Gourmet category for their sweet chilli beef sausages, first place in the Beef Burger category and second place in the regional Sausage King Poultry category for their standout chicken snags.

Beyond the trophies, Brad’s Magic Meats is known for consistency, craftsmanship and strong community favour, thanks to its delicious range of artisan meats and smallgoods.

Beginning in the butchers as a third-year apprentice in 2005, Brad took over the business just four years later in 2009. Since then, his dedication to premium cuts, quality ingredients and innovation has transformed the business into a local top-pick for everyday customers and foodies alike.

Customarily steadfast and tenacious, Brad seized upon the opportunity during COVID to develop the business’s smallgoods range and is thrilled to be entering these into the National Smallgoods competition later this year.

Forthright as his delicious products, Brad said:

“We aim to keep doing what we do best – offering quality cuts, a wide product range and excellent service. It’s as simple as that.”

Heartily acknowledging his team of four qualified butchers as key to the shop’s many accolades and ongoing success, Brad is also committed to fostering the future of the trade. The business currently supports two apprentices, along with a steady stream of casual staff and work placement students who regularly attend to gain valuable hands-on experience.

And that’s great news for the community, because what could be more appreciated than the continuation of award-winning, handcrafted meats and smallgoods?
