Goulburn Valley Pride and members of the Greater Shepparton City Council’s LGBTIQA+ Advisory Committee were excited to see the unveiling of a Pride Cow to join the Mooving Art herd on Thursday, November 7. The creation and introduction of a pride cow was part of the LGBTIQA+ Action Plan developed in collaboration with community representatives and endorsed by Greater Shepparton City Council.
The design and painting of the cow was a collaborative work by local artist Ruby Wyatt-Carter incorporating elements of the many Pride flags with the symbolism of peacock feathers.
The unveiling of the cow coincided with the raising of the permanent rainbow flag at Eastbank and the launch of this year’s OUTintheOPEN festival. This year’s festival theme was “Colour My World”, which rang true to all those who witnessed the unveiling of the cow and raising of the flag.
