JUST before 11pm Monday night a vehicle collided with a power pole, initially causing an outage for 960 customers.
Powercor crews responded to a fault in Hawdon Street, Shepparton, where local police say a female probationary driver was heading south on the street when she mounted and straddled the footpath taking out a parking sign and the power pole.
She was transmitted to hospital for observation but not admitted.
A spokesperson for Powercor said that network controllers and ground crews were able to switch power back on about 590 customers using other parts of the network, while another 360 customers are currently without power as field crews’ complete repairs.
Traffic lights were still out on the corner of Nixon and Welsford Streets, where police were controlling traffic after 9am Tuesday.
Police are still investigating the incident.
