By, Hysni Merja. Imam of Shepparton Albanian Mosque
OUR mosque, from the moment it was founded in 1960 by our Albanian community, has strongly promoted the values of dialogue, tolerance, understanding and coexistence with all other faiths and cultures.
The foundations of the Islamic religion, as well as the Albanian approach, are built on mutual respect, regardless of faith, race, colour, etc.
This is also the motto of the “Victorian Mosque Open Day”, an event which is organised in all the mosques of Victoria, to welcome all Australian citizens and to build bridges of communication, respect and harmony in society.
You are all invited to participate in this event on Sunday, February 25.
You are welcome together with your friends from other faiths, to visit us on this day.
This day you will learn about the history of the first Albanians in Shepparton. As well as the way they were organised to build the First Mosque in Victoria. You will learn and find answers to many questions about the Islamic faith.
The mosque will be open on Sunday, February 25 from 10am to 3pm. As part of this, from 12.30pm – 1.30pm there will also be a Q&A session and at 1.30pm there will be a free BBQ.
Address is 8 Acacia Street, Shepparton 3630, VIC.
