ALMOST 120 participants turned up last Thursday March 17 at Princess Park, to take part in the eighth annual year of the ‘GV Harmony Cup’. To date there is no event like this in the region which allows people of all abilities to have a bat and a bowl at the famous game, we call ‘cricket.’

This incredibly special day which is presented by the Shepparton United Cricket Club started off with just fifteen local participants, now the event sees people travel in from out of town to participate.

Event volunteer and coach Alana Baldy told The Adviser that she has been involved with the event for seven years and mentioned how incredible it has been to watch it grow to what it is today. “I am passionate about community involvement, community inclusion and breaking down barriers, and this day for me combines it all. Today I am here with clients from Connect GV, look at them, they are more than excited and that is why, I do this,” said Alana.

This event has been proudly developed by several community organisations that have a general interest in improving cricket participation in line with Cricket Victoria’s ‘All Abilities Action Plan.’
