SENIORS looking for an inspiring cultural experience this spring are encouraged to visit Shepparton Art Museum (SAM), which is hosting the renowned Archibald Prize 2026 exhibition until 1 November.
As the only Victorian venue on the exhibition’s regional tour, SAM is showcasing all 59 finalist portraits, including the winning portrait of Iluwanti Ken by Melbourne artist Richard Lewer.
Established in 1921, the Archibald Prize is Australia’s oldest and most prestigious portrait award, celebrating notable Australians from across the arts, science, politics and community life.
The exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy world-class art close to home while exploring the museum’s welcoming gallery spaces. A range of artist talks and special events will also be held throughout September and October, providing deeper insights into the artworks and artists.
