A COLLABORATIVE sculpture made by GOTAFE students and their trainers was awarded a Highly Commended Award, also taking a $500 prize, at the Koorie Heritage Trust Art Awards for 2018 held at Federation Square recently.
GOTAFE students from CUA31115 Certificate III in Visual Arts were involved in a making the collaborative sculpture named Aunty Girl. The women made the sculpture for the 2018 NAIDOC theme, ‘Because of Her, We Can.’
Being the first major collaborative sculpture produced, the opportunity to enter the awards was also the first time a GOTAFE student has ever had their work represented at a state level.
