THERE is a wind of change breezing through Currawa Primary School in Dookie. The school, an important part of our local educational landscape, is currently halfway through a significant renovation and modernisation of its main building and portable classroom, readying itself for the 2024 academic year.
The school has been operating entirely out of their newly refurbished portable classroom since May as work progresses on the primary structure. The upgrades, meticulously designed to meet updated departmental safety standards, will ensure full accessibility across the premises. Recent weeks have witnessed replacement of the roof, construction of internal and external walls, installation of window frames, and commencement of foundation works for the new pathway.
Significantly, funding for this renovation was supplied through the State Budget. The school received $1.453M in 2020-21, and it was allocated an additional $0.450M in 2022. It is this support that has fuelled this modernisation initiative.
Currawa Primary’s Principal, Rebecca Brown, sincerely hopes that the Greater Shepparton community will appreciate this exciting development at the school, as she expressed, “This exciting project is currently about halfway through and is on track to be ready to begin the 2024 school year.”
