Call for Sports Hall of Fame nominations

SHEPPARTON has a proud sporting DNA with several home-grown athletes going on to represent in the  nation and the state in a range of sports.

To recognise this, the Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking nominations for the Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame.

The aim of the Hall of Fame is to preserve, celebrate and showcase the history and heritage of sports excellence and achievement of Greater Shepparton residents.

There are three categories of the Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame:

  • Sports Hall of Fame
  • Sports Hall of Fame – Honour Role
  • Sports Hall of Fame – Junior Honour Role

To be eligible for nomination and induction into the Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame, the nominee must have made a significant contribution to their sport at the Australian representative level. Previous inductees include 1950s boxer Max Carlos, cyclist Brett Lancaster OAM, and Olympic gold medallist hockey player, Louis Dobson OAM.

To be eligible for the Honour Roll, the nominee must have made a contribution to their sport at the National or State representative level, and to be eligible for nomination onto the Junior Honour Roll, the nominee must have competed in junior competition at an Australian representative level.

Nominees and their nominators selected for induction by Council will be formally invited to the Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to recognise and celebrate their achievements.
