Chamber celebrates Maude Street Redevelopment opening…

The Chamber drove the Maude Street Redevelopment from its inception, eager to see the shopping precinct revitalised into a thriving centre for retail and hospitality businesses. Board members are overjoyed to see Maude Street teeming with shoppers and slow-moving traffic along the new one-way shared roadway ahead of Christmas, and new businesses taking up real estate in the former mall precinct.

Chamber board member, Geoff Adams said the redevelopment couldn’t have come quick enough for traders in the CBD, as they had suffered for many years.

“It’s absolutely fantastic to see the strip between Fryers and High Streets being busy again,” Geoff said.

“The parking is easy for shoppers, and with slow moving traffic, it’s a safe place to shop,” he said.

Chamber president, John Anderson said the Chamber had worked very hard over many years to open the mall. “The recent opening had already shown great success for both shoppers and businesses,” John said. Photo: Deanne Jeffers
