GREATER SHEPPARTON residents are invited to provide input on the Community Consultation Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP) 2022-2025.

As the population grows, so do the number of pets. To ensure that all domestic animals have a safe place to live with their owners, Council outlines key issues, objectives and priorities for pet management in a report every four years. The plan aims to minimise the nuisance and possible danger created by some cats and dogs.

Over the last four years, the Council’s animal management team have achieved much, including ongoing decreases in euthanasia rates, working with dog owners to reduce impound rates, providing a 24-hour emergency response service for animals, and more.

Council is now seeking input from both pet owners and those without pets to help guide animal management over the next four years.

Your feedback will help inform community education and enforcement initiatives relating to emergency services, responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, dog attacks, dangerous dogs, puppy farms, wandering cats and dogs, officer training, and the Shepparton Animal Shelter.

To have your say, drop into the Council or contact them on 5832 9700 or council@shepparton.vic.gov.au or visit shaping.greatershepparton.com.au/damp.
The survey closes next week at 5pm on Friday, November 26, 2021.
