“I love getting a sneak peek into a couple’s wedding, their vision, their colour scheme and sometimes, there is an interesting story behind a certain design,” said Maddy.
“There’s been a bride wanting to recreate her grandparent’s wedding cake, and couples who wish to add a little tribute to their dog for a personalised touch.
“I then get to use my cake magic to bring that to life, creating a unique and beautiful cake tailored just for them.”
Maddy has some sage advice for the cake selection process, centred on picking what couples love rather than trying to please the crowd.
“Don’t go pleasing everyone else, it’s your day after all! Pick the flavours and style that resonate with you,” emphasised Maddy.
“In previous generations, couples would keep the top tier of their cake. Now that buttercream cakes are on trend, instead, request your caterers to keep a big slice aside for you. Then you can sit down the next day as a newly married couple and enjoy it together with a cuppa or some bubbly!”
