Recently acquiring Codger Lures and developing a new range of fishing lures, Steve said:

“A lot of our fishing rods have been developed in-house by our staff to suit the specific conditions in our region. We’re currently working on a new range of lures, set to launch before Christmas, designed around our local species, mainly Redfin, Yellow Belly and Codfish.

“That hands-on involvement—from development and manufacturing to testing and trialling—allows us to create products that truly work here. We don’t just stock products; we know them inside out and can talk about them with confidence,” Steve said.

Always prioritising exceptional customer service, Steve further credited Trelly’s enduring success with his exceptional staff:

“Our staff are always willing to go the extra mile. If they can’t help directly, they’ll find someone who can. It’s about more than just selling gear; it’s about sharing knowledge, supporting each other and delivering real service. My wife Mary and I work hard to keep the team informed and focused on customer service. We want everyone who walks through the door to feel looked after.”

In addition to experience, knowledge and steadfast service, it is Trelly’s Outdoor’s partnership with major brands such as Shimano, Rapala and Jarvis Walker to design fishing rods specifically matched to local conditions and regional catches that further sets the outlet apart as a leader in the industry:

“We use the manufacturing expertise of these companies, but the design, whether it’s a two-piece, fast or slow action rod, comes from us. We start by looking at the lure, the species we’re targeting, and then design the rod from there, back to the reel. If the fish has a soft mouth, we make a softer rod. If the hook-up needs to be fast and strong, we go stiffer. It’s all about precision.”
