The Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority is developing the Goulburn Broken Regional Waterway Strategy in partnership with the community.
This strategy will set key directions for action as well as priorities for funding for the coming decade, to improve the health of local rivers and wetlands and help sustain what our communities value about waterways.
Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority CEO Carl Walters said community feedback had so far been gained from an online survey and a series of workshops across the catchment.
“Healthy waterways are central to daily life in the Goulburn Broken region,” Mr Walters said.
“The Goulburn Broken catchment’s rivers and wetlands play such a vital role in the lives of our community so it’s important community members have their say about how our waterways should be managed for future generations.

“In developing the strategy, practical actions that balance the values and uses of our waterways in a changing climate and achieve the community’s vision for the future will be considered.”
The Goulburn Broken Regional Waterway Strategy will guide choices that affect everyone from Traditional Owners, farmers and local councils to tourism operators, recreational fishers, landholders and future generations who depend on healthy waterways.
A community reference committee will assist with developing the strategy over the next 18 months.
Once completed, this strategy will replace the current Goulburn Broken Waterway Strategy developed in 2014.
