AS one of the longest-standing independent butchers in Shepparton, Krueger’s Fine Meats and Smallgoods have cemented themselves as the go-to for foodies with their premium products and specialty items with bold flavours.

The team is led by owners Emma and Martin Krueger who have proudly operated the business for the last 11 years and are committed to continuing to deliver the pristine quality the local butcher is known for.

They are a prime example of how teamwork and a drive to succeed can afford business owners the seemingly elusive work/life balance.

“I would say I run the show,” laughs Emma.

“In all seriousness though, Martin and I work together to raise our children and maintain the reputation our store upholds that we have worked so hard to achieve.

We have a system in place, one week I’m mostly in the store then the next it’s Martin’s turn, so we both have the chance to spend quality time with the kids. Family is so important to us, and this is a routine that works for our business and lifestyle.”

Krueger’s Fine Meats and Smallgoods are all about excellent quality over quantity, and Emma has a message for other women thinking of taking a leap and starting a business specialising in something they are passionate about.

“It’s easy to be comfortable and keep putting off taking a leap because you have doubts. Starting a business can be daunting but don’t hesitate, if you are passionate about something, go for it.

It’s like childbirth, it seems scary but once it’s done, it’s over, and you forget about that part and all your focus is on a new and exciting beginning.”
