Eye-opening, life-changing experience

TEN students at Shepparton ACE Secondary College recently embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Cambodia and Vietnam. They learned new skills, made memories and had immersive experiences in new cultures.

From September 6 until September 23, students travelled from Ho Chi Minh, to Saigon, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and then back home.

They visited Ho Chi Minh complex, Museum of Ethnology, Hoa Loa Prison, Cu Chi Tunnels, War Remnants Museum, Angkor Temples and several cities on their journey.

Year 9 student Jaime told us the highlight of her trip, “It was definitely a cool experience to hold a giant tarantula,” she said.

“It was my first trip overseas and it was great to learn about another culture and learn new things.”

Year 9 student Miles added, “It was enriching to try new foods and have new experiences, and it was also eye-opening to see the socioeconomic differences to what we are used to back home.”
