First year of results are off to a flying start at GSSC

THE Greater Shepparton Secondary College (GSSC) is pleased to announce that it has made across-the-board improvement in its senior student outcomes following its first year of combined operations.

Senior students of GSSC, which opened as a single campus at Hawdon Street in January, delivered improved results as individuals and as a graduating class with higher median subject scores than for the previous year.

Further, positive (early) data has also shown:

  • The highest ATAR above 90, improving upon 2021 results
  • A higher number of students with an ATAR between 80 and 90, improving upon 2021 results
  • Greatly improved 2022 study scores in individual subject areas compared to 2021
  • The likelihood of more students this year pursuing their preferred post-secondary study choice

Welcoming the encouraging results, executive principal Barbara O’Brien said, “We’re thrilled that in our first year of operation, with all the challenges that major change brings, we were able to deliver improvements in our VCE results and maintain a high rate of completion for our VCAL students.”

Additionally, the GSSC’s Careers Team has also won a state-wide award for excellence, with more students likely to receive their preferred post-secondary study choices than in the last two years, due to proactive and targeted counselling of students at risk of not receiving their first preference by dedicated careers practitioners.
