NO safety improvements have been made on the school crossing at Kialla West Primary School, five years after the horrific three-vehicle accident outside the school.

Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell has been a continuous advocate for a major safety upgrade of the crossing, ever since the collision involving a school family occurred there in 2018.

During Parliament Ms Lovell expressed concerns over the absence of action by the State Government, and its consistent lack of concern towards the safety of children, school staff and motorists using the Goulburn Valley Highway.

“Children who access this crossing every school day deserve to be protected from any dangers, and their parents deserve to have peace of mind that their children can walk to school safely,” she said.

Ms Lovell has sought action on this issue for five years but says successive Ministers have continued to respond by saying that discussions continue between Regional Roads Victoria, the school and the council, while no action has been taken.

“It’s time for transparency on the Kialla West crossing, which is why I have requested the Minister to arrange a meeting between Regional Roads Victoria and myself to discuss progress on this project.”
