IT is depressing to hear so many people in the region are dependent upon assistance in putting food on the table yet, the pandemic has brought us to this point.

Foodshare, serves up the equivalent of thousands of meals each week and has an increasing need for support. This week, the organisation has received $50,000 in donations, half of that, $25,000 from Peter and Stephen Copulos with $20,000 also provided by the Fairley Foundation and another $5,000 as an anonymous donation.

Peter Copulos and his family have been strong philanthropists to many causes in the region and this week is no different.

“We have been supporting local charities for the last forty years and it gives me great pleasure to be able to donate to Foodshare to support our community in time of need,” said Peter.

Peter has lived in Shepparton since 1948 when his family came to do farming, eventually moving into property development in Shepparton and across Australia.

Cheryl Hammer, CEO at the Greater Shepparton Foundation said, “These philanthropists approached Greater Shepparton Foundation (GSF) about giving to the community during the recent COVID crisis and we were able to identify the work Shepparton

Foodshare is doing and nominated them to be the beneficiary of the funds.”

Notwithstanding these very generous donations, Foodshare is always looking for support and can be reached at 0432 517 329 or by email info@sheppartonfoodshare.org.au
