HAVING lived in the Greater Shepparton region his entire life, former Mayor Geoff Dobson wants to apply the knowledge he has gained as a member of various board’s during his Council hiatus to a new era in Greater Shepparton City Council leadership.
Since retiring from Council in 2012, Mr Dobson has been appointed membership to the board of Goulburn Valley Water, the board of Shepparton Waste and Recovery Group and the Yorta Yorta Traditional Owner Land Management board among others.
“The various experiences I have undertaken in the last few years as a member of a range of boards has granted me great insight into public governance,” Mr Dobson said.
“The development of local projects is important to our economic recovery post COVID-19. Going forward, I believe we need to take both a comprehensive and conservative approach to not only our financial rehabilitation but also towards the social recuperation of the Greater Shepparton community following the pandemic.”
Mr Dobson aims to provide an experienced outlook to the cohort of new councillors if re-elected to serve another term on City Council.
