GENEROUS hearts can be missed in this busy world where everyone is trying to make it through the day of their own hectic lives. In Shepparton Declo Bisimwa founder of Masomo Mbele (School First) – African Australian Youth Leadership Foundation (MM), and his wife Sifa Consolate Delco, have shown in a world of turmoil there still lives a spark of compassion and love in our community.

The pair reached into their own pockets to provide food to 120 children in need facing food scarcity during Christmas in Nakivale Refugee Camp, Uganda, with the aid of MM, which has members in Shepparton and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as well as volunteers in Nakivale Refugee Camp.

“We had so many challenges and obstacles, but we also achieved many things last year. That’s why we wanted to help others and show our gratitude to God for everything he had done for our family,” said Delco.

“Hundreds of thousands of refugee orphans, children, youth and women in Nakivale Refugee Camp are facing unimaginable challenges – leaving behind their homes, and families and adjusting to a completely different reality. By extending a helping hand, we have the potential to uplift their spirits, offer hope, and provide a source of comfort amidst their struggles.”

Masomo Mbele (School First) – African Australian Youth Leadership Foundation is a local community-based organisation that aims to inspire and empower our local community to contribute in a meaningful way to improve the lives of those living without hope. They provide specialised services to African and Australian children, youth, parents, and the community in Greater Shepparton.

“We strongly encourage everyone, local organisations who would like to help children and women in Nakivale Refugee Camp to reach out and connect with us, or individuals who are already involved, and explore creative ways to aid. Remember that even a single act of kindness can create a ripple effect, sparking a flame of positivity, and inspiring others to join in the noble cause,” said Delco.
