Good, better, best

Within the Museum of Vehicle Evolution is the Furphy Museum, a collection of historical items and products that reflect the story behind Australia’s oldest continuous running businesses. The Furphy Museum was officially opened by The Deputy Premier of Victoria, the Hon Mr Peter Ryan as part of the companies 150th anniversary celebrations in 2014. The Furphy companies retain their place in leading manufacturing and engineering in Shepparton having employed thousands upon thousands of Shepparton residents over its lengthy history. The exhibition portrays some of the more rustic aspects of its early business, in particular the Furphy water cart that established its reputation in the days when Australians participated in World War I but more importantly, in helping the country open up in the Goulburn Valley. The company has moved on since those early days yet remains a dominant part of Shepparton’s history today.
