LEADING community-based, not-for-profit aged care provider, Doutta Gala Aged Services officially opened the extension and upgrade to the Shepparton’s Harmony Village last Friday, December 14.
The works included 16 new single rooms, upgrades to a number of rooms in the existing building, a new kitchen, two new communal areas (including intimate dining rooms) and three outdoor courtyards for residents and their families to enjoy.
At the opening, a Welcome to Country ceremony was conducted by Yorta Yorta Elder, Uncle Lance James. Federal Member for Murray, Damian Drum was also in attendance to deliver a speech and help cut the cake, as well as Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe.
Doutta Galla Aged Services board chair, Scott Chapman said the new wing would enrich the lives of both current and future Harmony Village residents.
“We want people to feel comfortable to be themselves as well as being part of the wider community of people here at Harmony Village,” Mr Chapman said.
