Historic Ky West Hotel burns down

THE Ky West Hotel burned to the ground last night.

CFA responded to reports of a hotel fire in Kyabram at 11.55pm, on the night of Monday, March 20, 2023.

13 CFA vehicles and crews responded, including trucks and support vehicles. Firefighters and police worked together to extinguish the blaze at the hotel located on Graham Road, Kyabram.

They spent several hours on-site before the fire was deemed under control at 1.56am and declared safe at 3am after crews overhauled and extinguished 90 percent of the fire.

Crews will attend the site again today with machinery to ensure no hotspots remain.

A building surveyor and fire investigators attended the site this morning to make the area safe and erect temporary fencing and determine the blaze’s cause.

No one was in the hotel at the time of the fire and investigations are ongoing.
