WOMEN in sport have been gaining momentum with the success of the Matilda’s on the world stage, and the continued growth of AFLW but our Women’s Cricket team, the Southern Stars, have been world leaders for a long time.

To attract the next wave of women cricketing world beaters, the Shepparton Cricket Association are hosting a pair of come-and-try gala days on Sunday, October 13 at the Vibert Reserve on Archer Street Shepparton. Sunday, October 27 at the Tatura Main Ovel on Hastie Street, Tatura. From 9am to 11am.

The free event will be an opportunity for experienced and first-time players to meet local coaches and senior female players. Get involved and learn new cricket skills through a skills and game session. With a BBQ thrown in.

The gala day is open to girls from Shepparton, Euroa, Nagambie, Kyabram, Echuca, and everywhere in between, with the aim of building a female-only competition for younger players.

All equipment will be supplied, you just need water bottles, smart clothing, sunscreen, and a big smile.

“I’ve been playing cricket for five years and I love it, it’ll be great to play with just the girls,” said Phoebe.

“I love playing in a team environment. Being able to do that with all girls and not having to listen to boys brag about how much better they think they are, will be great,” said Olivia.

The ages are 7-11 years, and 12-17 years. Scan the QR Code to register or contact Chris Barclay for more information at 0439832607.
