GREATER Shepparton Secondary College have welcomed their 2023 year 12 cohort to the new school year with an Immersion Days Event.
Held at the McIntosh Centre earlier this week, Year 12 students participated in a number of team-building activities, met with representatives from local businesses and further education providers, heard presentations on various topics and connected with their peers outside of a classroom setting over an immersive two days.
GOTAFE, LaTrobe Uni, Headspace and the Youth Foyer all hosted sessions and provided info on careers and wellbeing support available to students.
On Monday evening, parents to the College were invited to attend a presentation regarding VCE and VCEVM and how families can work together with the school to support their children.
Year 12 student Fabian, who has aspirations to study Medicine after VCE, explained how the Immersion Day Sessions were beneficial to him.
“I do have a clear study path in mind, I would like to pursue a career in surgical medicine. Today has been insightful and has provided a lot of information about what University options are available,” said Fabian.
A highlight of Monday’s activities was the action-packed newspaper fashion parade, which required students to flex their creative muscles and create a catwalk-worthy outfit together in teams. It was close, but Warrego House claimed victory after cladding Grace Kirunga with a pleated detail ensemble.
