A European flavour comes to Shepparton. Winter is the season for snow and ice skating and Shepparton is no different. Winter Fun comes to the Maude Street mall over the school holidays with an ice skating rink now in place and running through until the 14th July.

Sessions will be taking place every day and tickets are available online with links to the ticket office through the operator, Southern Magic Ice Skating’s Facebook page or through the Greater Shepparton Council events page.

Annie Clark, the co-owner of Southern Magic Ice Skating and her husband have been on site getting the ice ready with a slow build up over several days. Two large freezer units have been brought in to make the ice and with this cold weather spell we are now having, conditions are perfect to engage in winter sports

With a small rink and what looks like loads of winter fun, simply managing to retain your balance and stay upright should prove a challenge for everyone. For the little ones, they’ve even got special clip-on skates that can be simply attached to their shoes.

The Winter Fun Zone will be operating every day of the school holidays from 10am until 6pm. Entry is $6.50 for kids and $12 for adults aged over 16.

So rug up, wear some gloves and be prepared for a laugh when your feet head off in their own direction or perhaps you will be practising your toe jumps or edge jumps like a master.

Who knows, maybe a future World Figure Skating champion might take their first foray on the ice in Shepparton.
