After a random Facebook add, Kylie & Mick talked for months before meeting up on the side of the road in 2014. On the day of their first meeting, Mick took Kylie back home to meet his family. This year, they celebrated nine years together, and are parents to five children, Willow 8, Wyatt 6, Marcel 4, Elijah 2, and Desmond, 11 months old.
When Willow was almost one, Mick proposed to Kylie at a red traffic light, culminating in their wedding taking place in October 2022.
“We got married when the floods had just gone down but still covering some roads, which made the Groom late to his own wedding!” laughed Kylie.
“Think strong winds, mosquitoes and mud. My veil kept covering everyone. Mick tried putting the ring on the wrong hand and was so sure it was the right one. The kids went crazy for the photobooth with the backdrop we made ourselves. I danced in my slippers for the reception, and I got changed into my pj’s towards the end of the night to finish off the reception.”
Kylie & Mick are the epitome of wedding day plans gone awry, but they had an amazing day and wouldn’t change it for the world.
“Not everything will run smoothly, be it last minute changes, weather, traffic, or vehicles breaking down. What matters most is you’re marrying the one you love,” is the very perfect advice Kylie has for those planning a wedding.
