MEAT pie lovers across the region have reason to celebrate, with Burkes Bakery earning national recognition for its much loved creations.
The Mooroopna favourite has reached a significant milestone, taking home four silver medals at the 2026 Australia’s Best Pie & Pastie Competition, held on the Gold Coast from June 16 to 18.
Burkes Bakery was recognised for its succulent pulled pork pie, flavoursome beef and caramelised onion pie, and classic plain meat pies as well as its smoked bacon beef pie. The four times win not only reflects the quality of its products but also the depth of expertise behind the bakery’s pastry bench.
Each entry is judged twice with rigour and skill, leaving little room for doubt — first cold to assess appearance and pastry consistency, and again hot to evaluate aroma, flavour, filling quality and overall mouthfeel.
The result is a powerful, finger–licking endorsement of Burkes Bakery’s commitment to craftsmanship, cementing its place among the country’s standout pie makers.
Owners Rob Beanham and Hannah Tuckett said of their bakery’s standout recognition:
