LAST Thursday saw local business owner Michael Milburn officially launch his book on leadership at the Shepparton Brewery.
The book titled ‘Hey Guess What? You’re in HR – Becoming a People Leader’ examines the skills required to be developed for a new team leader, supervisor or manager, beyond the scope of their technical skills.
The book is based on Michael’s career in Human Resources spanning more than 25 years.
“In many companies that I have worked for, both large and small, you always get an employee manual on your first day of work, but no one ever gives you a management manual once you get promoted. You are just expected to know things, in most cases things you have never dealt with or experienced before,” explained Michael.
Through Michael’s expertise in developing new leaders, the book covers the key areas that a person needs to develop their leadership skills. There are tips and tricks, but like any new skill, it takes practice.
Michael is passionate about education and developing others, giving everyone a chance to grow regardless of their background.
From every book sold, $5 will be donated to local charities in the GV that help youth with their education.
The book is available as both an eBook and paperback version through Amazon, but Michael is seeking local stores to sell the book directly from.
