THE top job at Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) has been filled by Melinda Martin, who joins SAM with more than 20 years’ experience in arts management.

She moved from Melbourne to pursue the role, which she began on July 11 after finishing up as CEO and director of Linden New Art School in St Kilda, a role that she held until her 10th anniversary at the helm.

“I’m delighted to have relocated to Shepparton and look forward to exploring the region and getting to know the place and the community. I hope that SAM becomes a cultural and community hub – where people from all backgrounds can feel welcome,” she said.

“My vision for SAM is that this place will grow to become a hub where all people can belong, delve into stories, play, make and have a good time. The community aspect is central to everything being done here.”

Melinda likes to celebrate diverse artworks, that “make you stop and think.”
She said she is really excited and looking forward to the creative projects and collaborations that emerge from SAM now and into the future.
