Local fire crews were called out to a grass fire on New Dookie Road, near Sirius College, on Monday, December 8, which forced road closures and traffic to be rerouted. Multiple crews responded, including the fire helicopter, to the blaze that was quickly dealt with and no major damage to property or the school.
The accidental fire is believed to have been caused by slashing the overgrown grass amongst pine trees. It is a timely reminder for all people cutting and slashing around their property to be extra vigilant this fire season.
