GV HEALTH launched a three-year plan to continue growth and maintain excellent healthcare in the region. The GV Health Strategic Plan 2024-2026 will be held up by five pillars that will cross all aspects of health in the region, engage members of the community and help retain staff which has been a struggle in all regional centres in recent years across many sectors including healthcare.
The five strategic pillars:
- Health and wellbeing outcomes: to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people in our region.
- Community and consumer experience: to ensure all community members have an outstanding personalised experience at GV Health.
- Staff experience: to ensure GV Health staff feel connected, supported, safe and well.
- Responsible workplace: to ensure GV Health continues to improve in sustainability and efficiency.
- Health equity: to embrace differences in how GV Health designs and delivers healthcare.
Understanding the diversity of the region, including the largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population in regional Victoria, has been pivotal in tailoring care to meet cultural needs.
In the wake of the COVID pandemic, the recent floods and the current cost of living crisis, the strain on healthcare has been more prevalent than ever before, especially in the mental health space. That comes back to the people providing the care, giving them the support they need to provide the best outcome for locals.
“It’s no accident our workforce is at the centre of our new plan – they are the people providing vital care and support in our community’s times of greatest need. This plan recognises that by supporting our staff in their pursuit of excellence, we can overcome the challenges and embrace the opportunities so that everyone can have the best possible experience in our care as well as improved health and wellbeing outcomes,” said GV Health chief executive Matt Sharp.
