Plug pulled on Mooroopna NYE

THE Mooroopna Rotary Club’s iconic New Year’s Eve festival has been cancelled, citing government restrictions and ongoing uncertainty relating to public events.

The New Year’s Eve Festival is the club’s iconic annual event and has been celebrated for nearly 40 years in the town.

Mooroopna Rotary Club president, Kelvin Rogash, said the club had also cancelled the car raffle that would have been drawn at the festival.

“The club has been discussing the effect of the lockdown and the restrictions on our event and car raffle since the middle of the year, working hard to consider other options apart from cancellation,” Mr Rogash said.

“We recognise that the current restrictions we are working under make it impossible for the event to occur.”
The celebration would have marked 100 years since Rotary started in Australia and New Zealand
