POETRY Slam is not just for lovers of poetry, it’s for anyone who gets a kick out of live entertainment.
POETRY Slam is a live literary performance event where the audience chooses the champion. From July to October, Australian Poetry Slam heats and workshops connect storytellers across the nation, leading to the National Final as part of Story Week, 2022.
Shepparton Library is thrilled to host a Victorian heat of Poetry Slam on Sunday, September 11 from 7pm. Whether you are a budding poet or more experienced, Poetry Slam is a great way to get your poetry heard. 20 people will have the opportunity to participate in the Shepparton heat, with the winner going on to the Victorian finals and possibly, the National Final.
A rousing part of Poetry Slam is audience participation on the night. Exceptionally exuberant audience members will have the chance to be selected as a judge, handpicking the next Slam champion.
Earlier in the day from 12 noon to 2pm, the Shepparton Library will also host a fun and stimulating workshop dedicated to helping participants develop inspiration for stories and writing. Current Slam Champion, Huda the Goddess will excitingly host and facilitate the workshop.
Poets planning to take part in the Shepparton Heat must register in person, on the night.
