FOR 12 years, The Men’s Table organisation has welcomed men of all ages to join its monthly, informal dinners across Victoria to engage with peers in a safe space to chat about their lives and feelings in promotion of greater mental health and wellbeing.

A dedicated charity, The Men’s Table creates groups of up to 12 men who meet for dinner monthly, building fellowship as well as a sense of belonging while sharing the highs and lows of day-to-day life in a non-judgemental environment.

Now with over 50 Men’s Tables successfully established throughout Victoria, Shepparton is set to begin its very own group with an ‘Entrée’ launch on Tuesday, February 21.

The opening event will showcase how the peer supported dinners are set up as well as share the powerful benefits of groups such as these in supporting men’s mental health.

Having established and supported many Men’s Tables, regional organiser Dan Ball said, “As men we are told to toughen up from a young age and that “boys don’t cry”, but the tide is turning, and we are realising as a society it takes strength to be vulnerable.

“The Men’s Table gives men that space, in a confidential setting with no judgment. In my personal experience, it is an environment of acceptance, where it is not only ok to be vulnerable, but it is encouraged.

“We hear everything from marriages to divorces, births of new children to bereavements, redundancies to new jobs, challenges and happiness. The Men’s Table is a place to share it and feel more connected to our community,” Dan said.

To see if you would like to join a monthly table, you can come along to The Termi on Tuesday, February 21 at 6:30, with bookings essential at www.events.humanitix.com/shepparton-men-s-table-entree-tuesday-21st-february-2023
