The State Government has identified seven sites across Victoria, including the old Radio Australia site in North Shepparton, to build around 9,155 new homes. The sites will be assessed through the ‘Unlocking Strategic Sites’ program, which fast-tracks the rezoning of underutilised land and aims to cut the typical two-year waiting period in half.

This new pathway will be delivered through the Development Facilitation Program, and every project will be subject to planning assessment and community consultation. Projects will require a minimum of 10 per cent affordable housing.
