Results of community engagement consultation

Greater Shepparton City Council conducted a survey during September and October to gauge responses to how it manages community engagement. As would be expected, the community requires greater transparency on a number of fronts including engagement about neighbourhood and community plans and strategies.

Respondents also want more engagement on issues around major roadwork upgrades, future plans for growth and streetscape and sporting ground developments, parking and children’s services.

Acting Director Community, Amanda Tingay said, “Council was reviewing how it communicates, engages, consults and makes decisions with the community.

“The draft policy should go to the December Ordinary Council meeting then will go out for community consultation until the end of February 2020. Council will then look at the community feedback on the policy, develop a report and it will go back to Council for adoption at the April meeting with some flexibility on the dates.”

The feedback received will help shape the way Council engages with the community including the use of appropriate, effective and inclusive community engagement practices.
