NAIDOC Week 2021 saw many opportunities for the community to come together and reflect on this year’s ‘Healing Country’ theme.

Last Tuesday saw Elders gather with family and friends for the annual Rumbalara Elders Facility luncheon after restrictions last year put the event on hold for 2020.

Attendees were treated to a delicious lunch, guest speakers and a gift from Headspace Shepparton students who delivered cards and succulents to Rumbalara Elders at the conclusion of the event.

“This is a chance for us to all catch up and reflect, I make sure I go around to everyone and have a chat, it’s such a lovely event,” said Aunty Pam.

“It’s really important to have these events so we can connect and see our loved ones in person.”
The NAIDOC 2021 theme ‘Heal Country!’ calls for all to continue to seek greater protections for Aboriginal lands, waters, sacred sites and cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction.
