HISTORY can fade with time, memories are lost, and items of interest may be damaged or misplaced over the years. It’s the purpose of our Historical Societies to preserve our past and keep it safe for future generations. A challenge facing many historical societies as the wonderful caretakers grow older and move on is to generate a new group of interested volunteers to take over when they go.

The Mooroopna Historical Society was one group facing this dilemma. To combat their ageing group of members and volunteers, they invite community members to join them at their AGM Wednesday, November 8, 1.30pm, at 30 Park Street, Mooroopna.

“I would like to see the whole thing continue. Every historical society in Australia is all old people, we need to get hold of young people to keep them running,” said John MacKellar.
